Welcome to my website where you'll find information and updates about things happening in our classroom and our school. This website provides an excellent opportunity to communicate and connect, and I encourage you to visit often. I am so very pleased that your child is in my class, and I'm truly looking forward to getting to know him/her. I'm anticipating a wonderful year filled with many adventures in learning. While in the next weeks and months, I will become an important part of your child's life, YOU, as a parent, will always remain his/her most important teacher! I hope to begin a partnership with you that will set the tone for a positive educational experience for your child. My goal is not to just teach reading and math, but to help you encourage your child to develop and mature socially and emotionally as well as academically. I hope your child will gain new friendships and a greater sense of responsibility and independence, and become more self-reliant and self-motivated. I will do everything in my power to help ensure that one of his/her first formal academic experiences is a positive one.
Since I will be spending so much time with your child, you should know a little bit about me. I grew up on a ranch that's in Mills and Hamilton counties with 4 siblings. I loved the peace and fresh air of my rural up-bringing! I attended K-12 schools in the tiny town of Star, Texas. I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University where my husband, Bill, was in pharmacy school. I later obtained certifications to better serve ESL (English as a Second Language) students and G/T (Gifted & Talented) students. Bill and I have been been married for 33 years! Bill is a friendly pharmacist for Doc's Drug Store in Early. Together we've raised 3 great kids! Trenton lives in Abilene with his wife, Tara (a teacher, who is a reading spcialist), and he is is personal financial planner. Peyton is in advertising and lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her husband, Dan (an Air Force pilot). Peyton and Dan had my first grandchild, a girl named Merritt. this past January! I love being her Lolli I will be savoring the last year while my youngest daughter, Keaton, is still at home! Keaton is a senior and a cheerleader at EHS.
Teaching is not just my job! It's my hobby and my calling! Remember, I am always available to talk to you about questions and concerns you may have. We are partners in your child's educational and personal growth. I hope your child's first grade experience helps foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime!
