Free School Lunches For All Students

*Urgent Update Regarding Free and Reduced Meal Applications:*

Early ISD announced its policy prior to the start of school that, for the 2021-2022 school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year, regardless of income. There is no change to this policy and students will continue to receive free meals for this school year.

However, we have received updated guidance regarding application collection for the 2021-2022 school year. While no application or eligibility determination is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year. As such, Early ISD will need to collect household applications during School Year 2021-2022 to ensure student eligibility for free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year, while 2022-2023 applications are being processed.

It is critical that we establish eligibility for the 2021-2022 School Year as to ensure students who would normally be receiving Free or Reduced priced meals will not be charged full price at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, until new applications are processed.

Starting immediately, Early ISD will begin distributing letters to the households of the registered students about these 2022-2023 eligibility benefits and actions households need to take to apply. Applications can be filled out online at http://family.titank12.com and are available at each campus and Central Administration. If you have already received a letter stating that your child will receive Free or Reduced priced meals for the 2021-2022 school year because your child was directly certified through SNAP or Medicaid, or because you have already filled out an application online, you may disregard this message.

Please contact Kimberly Leigh at kimberly.leigh@earlyisd.net or 325-646-7934 ext. 9959 if you have any questions regarding this change.
