LIFT PROGRAM IDENTIFICATION PROCESS
EISD conducts GT screening in 1st - 8th grade in spring semester of each school year. A parent, teacher, and/or campus counselor may initiate the screening process for a student. Letters for nomination for the GT program will be sent home with the students in January. Parents/guardians must complete and sign the Parent Information Survey prior to any tests being administered. The parent or guardian will be notified in writing if the student qualifies for the EISD Gifted and Talented Program by the end of the current school year. If the child qualifies, they will begin the program the following school year.
Kindergarten nominations are open during the third six weeks. Letters for nomination will be sent home with the students. Parents/guardians must complete and sign the Parent Information Survey prior to any tests being administered. Testing will be given in January and February. Students who qualify will begin in the program following spring break for the current year.
Once a student qualifies for the Gifted and Talented program, they will automatically qualify for the remaining school years while in the district.
Additional information can be found in the district’s Gifted and Talented handbook on the district’s website.
