Early ISD Spring Travel

EISD Faculty, Staff, and Parents,

I want to thank you for your patience regarding the communication of information pertaining to the Coronavirus Pandemic. A school closure protocol has been issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention that outlines steps for schools to consider. Due to the recent availability of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) test kits in Brown County, we have decided to wait until results from these tests are made available before allowing students to return to school. Classes for students will be suspended through March 22nd. Faculty and staff that have not traveled to high risk areas will return Monday to assist in communicating with families that we have not received travel information from. Staff will be participating in professional development activities Monday - Friday with the plan for students to return to school on Monday, 22nd. The current situation; however, is still extremely fluid, and it is the goal of EISD to return students to a safe environment where learning will occur.

We are taking these steps out of an abundance of caution and believe this is the most prudent action at this time given the number of EISD-Connected people who may have been exposed while traveling and may not yet show symptoms. I understand the disappointment and inconvenience these decisions have caused many of you. In order for us to keep everyone at EISD as safe as possible, families are encouraged to help the District identify travel risks by completing the following Google Form survey. Please fill out the form even if you did not travel at all over the break.

Please complete this form on behalf of each child and staff member.

The UIL has suspended all extra-curricular contest until March 31st, and EISD will suspend all practices and after school student activities until students return on Monday, 23rd.

Please continue to adhere to health and safety guidelines posted by public officials. I am also including the latest updated information from the Texas Education Agency at the link below.

We will keep you posted if anything changes.

Sincerely,
