Middle School Girls Choir Earns Sweepstakes
On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, the Early Middle School 7/8 Grade Treble Choir traveled to Alvarado High School in Alvarado, TX, to participate in the UIL Middle School Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. It was a special contest for the girls this year. For many years, the middle school choir members have been combined with the high school choir members to form a competing composite group. The University Scholastic League passed a new rule, stating that this could no longer be an option unless the middle school choir students were actually part of the high school choral class. Since this was not the case, the middle school choir students were required to branch out on their own. What makes this an even more special year is that the girls earned a Sweepstakes rating for their performance.
The girls performed three pieces from memory and then sight-read a selection for a different panel of judges.
The girls are under the direction of Freida Davis, Early Middle School Choral Director for Early ISD.
