Spam is that junk e-mail that so graciously
offers you all kinds of things you don't need
or want (in fact, you didn't really want
to have to think about that in the first place!).
If you have an e-mail account through the
Region
15 Education Service Center, you have
a "spam-blocker" on your e-mail
account (wouldn't it be great if the USPS
had that?). Postini not only filters
out spam, it also catches viruses (or messages
that it thinks may be a virus). •2.
Click on Login to Postini. •3.
Log in to your message center by typing your
netxv email address and password (usually
the one you use to log on to your computer
every day) into the appropriate boxes. Then,
click Log In. •4.
This is all the spam and virus infected emails
Postini catches before it ever goes to your
netxv email account inbox. •5.
You should look through this list to make
sure there isn’t an email from a trusted
source. If there is, click on Deliver. If
not, click on Sender to select all the emails
and then click on Remove. •6.
This removes the spam emails and puts them
in the Removed section of your message center.
You can leave them there and Postini will
empty that center every so often. I like to
empty it myself. •7.
So, click on Removed and then click on Empty
Trash to delete all those spam emails from
your message center. •8.
Postini will ask to verify that’s what
you want to do. Click continue. •9.
And that’s it. •10.
Now, let’s say you want to change your
Junk Email Settings. Just below the words
Message Center, click on Junk Email Settings. •11.
The default will either be Off or set for
low leniency. However, set it to Aggressive
across the board. Then, click on Save Changes.
•12.
On that same page you can add Approved Senders
and enter Blocked Senders. Just enter the
email address and click on Save to List. Or,
when you chose to deliver an email to your
inbox, you can specify that sender be added
to your Approved List. •13.
Now you want to change your virus settings.
So, click on Virus Settings. •14.
Make sure your Virus Protection is set to
ON and not OFF. If the ON button is green,
you’re good to go; if not, change it
by clicking on the ON button. Leave your notifications
to the Organization default and click Save. •15.
If you need to change your Postini password,
you can do that in "Account Settings". •16. That’s it…you’re done! |
