Along with the widespread use of E-mail in the civilized world has come a list of Do's and Don't's.

•• Creating a Message •• Sending Attachments •• Replying •• Forwarding ••

Creating a Message

Subject:
• Do enter a clear subject in the subject line.
• Don't make it vague, like "hello". In this virus-ridden time, a blank or vague subject line may cause the receiver confusion and stress over whether or not the message is safe.

Multiple Receivers:
• Do use Bcc: (blind carbon copy) to send a message to several recipients.
• Don't worry about this if you are sending to friends or family that all know each others' addresses anyway.

Typing your message:
• Do pick a fun font in which to write your messages.
• Don't use a font that is so highly unique that no one else will have it, causing your message to be symbol gibberish.
• Do feel free to use those cute little emoticons =}
• Don't overuse those cute little emoticons >8{
Don't type in ALL CAPS. It means that you are yelling and is considered very rude.

Sending Attachments:
• Do have a clear subject line and specific information concerning the attachment in the body of the message. Be sure to use the receiver's name and/or sign your own name in the body of the message.
• Don't send an attachment with no info -- it may cause much stress to the receiver trying to figure out if it is a virus.

Replying:
• Do use the Reply button when you want to reply back only to the person who sent you the message.
• Don't use the Reply to All button unless you want everyone else who received the original message to see your reply.

Forwarding:
• Do feel free to forward information to individuals who would find it useful, interesting, funny or inspiring.
• Don't forward anything to everyone in your address book (no matter what the E-mail message tells you to do)!!
• Don't forward any message that says that if you forward it to x-number of people something will happen. It will not. You will not see anything cool on your computer. A big company will not send you free stuff.
• Don't forward any message about the latest "worst virus ever" until you have checked the virus sites to see if it is real or a hoax.
