Image Properties:
• Width and
Height: These can be adjusted, but be careful. If you don't
adjust them the same amount, it will skew your pic. Also, trying to make a pic
bigger often results in "pixellation" -- those nasty little squares
that show up in a low quality image. And don't assume that because you make
an image smaller that you have optimized it -- not the same!! Again,
if you don't know how to optimize, learn
it now.
• Src: This just shows where the image is saved. If it
ever says something like file:///C/blah/blahpic.jpg you have not saved
your image inside of your web site folder.
• Link: You can make a link out of your image just like
text. You can link your image to another image file
(like this:
)
or to another page (like this:
).
• Target: We already discussed targets on the links
part of this tutorial.
• Alt: The alt tag is the text that will show up when
you hover your curser over an image. If you hover your curser over the 2 little
"d" images above, the alt tag will show up. You don't have to add
one, but it can help the user know where the link goes and it is part of making
a web page more "accessible" to physically challenged users.
• Edit: This is SO cool! The little Fireworks Edit button
will take your image directly into Fireworks. You just click, make your changes,
then click Done and you're right back in Dreamweaver with your new image.
