•Authenticating (Breaking a Block)•
|| •Requesting a Site
be Unblocked for Classroom Use•
Authenticating
(Breaking Through an Internet Block):
••When you get to a blocked website,
you will see this page:
 |
Username:
this is the same name you use to log
in to your computer every day (firstname-lastname).
Password:
this is the same password
you use to log in to your computer every
day.
"click
here": use this ONLY if
|
When
you enter your username and password (after
3:45 pm and before 8 am), you will get
a little window confirming that you are
logged in to Lightspeed as an employee.
As long as you leave this window
open, you should be able to access any
appropriate Internet site. |
 |
Requesting
a Site be unblocked for Classroom Use:
NOTE: All unblock requests are approved/disapproved
by the campus principal.
••If you come across a site that
you need for educational purposes in your
classroom:
 |
"click
here": use this ONLY if
- you
need this site for educational purposes
in your classroom
(and it will still have to be approved
by your campus principal)
- it
is after 3:45 pm and before 8 am and
your username/password did not work
BEST
PRACTICE: Test all sites that
you want your students to use before
you try to use them in class. Test the
sites no more than 1 week before you
intend to use them (the filter updates
on a daily basis).
This cannot guarantee that you/your
students won't get blocked during an
activity, but it will reduce the chances. |
After
you "click here", you will
get a window to enter your information
for the request.
Please
be specific as to why you need this
site unblocked.
Include information on the class, the
activity/project like "My Career
Ed class is doing a project over marketing
and purchasing online".
Please
do not allow students to send in unblock
requests.
If a student needs a site for an assigned
activity, the teacher should send in
the request.

This
is the report that we receive when a
request is sent in.
Blocked
URL: this shows us only the
domain that is blocked. (this is
why we will often email you back asking
for the "exact address")
Client's
Host Name: tells us exactly
what computer from which the request
was sent
Client's
User Name: tells us exactly
who was logged in when the request was
sent
Reason
for review: gives the campus
principal the information he/she needs
to approve/disapprove the site |
